CEO, Sustainable Fishery Trade
Simone Pisu is a marine biologist with 15 years of experience in the fishery sector in a variety of countries such as Italy, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, and holds an MSc in Oceanography and Coastal Management from the University of Barcelona. He is passionate about working with rural communities and has an entrepreneur soul. Over his career, he has worked on several subjects related to marine environment protection, coastal management and sustainable use of fishery resources in Italy and Spain, working with important Spanish research centers such as Consejo Superior de Investigación Científica (CSIC) and Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO). In the last years, Simone has focused his work on developing artisanal fisheries in South America including Brazil, but especially in Peru as project manager for Italian NGOs and working as an independent consultant for public and private institutions. He’s working on efficiency, transparency, and traceability throughout the seafood supply chain.
